Ex-Nottinghamshire star David Hussey is relishing the chance to play at Trent Bridge again as he looks to help steer Australia to ICC World Twenty20 glory.

Australian open against West Indies at The Oval on Saturday and face Sri Lanka at Trent Bridge on Monday.

And Hussey, who may yet return to Notts to replace Adam Voges, told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It's great to be back.

"It's a lovely city and a great place to play cricket. I spent four years here and loved every minute of it."

Voges has been named as vice-captain for Australia A's home series against Pakistan and will be away for five weeks.

And Hussey has talked to the club about the possibility of coming back on a short-term deal.

The 31-year-old still keeps in touch with many players at the club and also follows their fortunes on the pitch.

"Some of my closest friends still play for Notts," added the middle-order batsman.

"It's been a big part of my life. Hopefully they can win some silverware this year."

Hussey is also convinced the time he spent at Notts will be a major benefit to Australia and he is optimistic about their chances.

"A little bit of inside information definitely goes a long way and hopefully I can help them out with the Ashes as well," he said.

"We have great fast bowlers and matchwinners throughout the batting line-up but in Twenty20 cricket any one bloke can win the game for their team."
