Loye injured his calf muscle while batting against Lancashire in June |
Northants batsman Mal Loye fell just short of a century as he launched his comeback from injury with his old club. Loye hit 93 for Old Northamptonians against Northampton Saints in the Northants League as he returned to action following a calf problem. But Loye's innings was not enough to earn the side victory as they finished on 182-8 chasing a target of 190. Elsewhere Finedon stretched their lead to 22 points thanks to a seven-wicket win over Rushden Town at Short Stocks. Second-placed Peterborough suffered a shock one-wicket defeat against Wollaston, while Wellingborough Town slipped deeper into trouble at the bottom of the table after losing to Stony Stratford by 144 runs. Meanwhile, Rushton overcame Burton Latimer by seven wickets and Brixworth drew with the Northamptonshire Academy. Horton House's lead in Division One was trimmed to just two points as the top side had to settle for a losing draw at home to Old Wellingburians.
