Peterborough Town retained top spot in the Northants League thanks to a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Stony Stratford on Saturday. Ajaz Akhtar claimed 5-43 as Stony were dismissed for 124 and Peterborough passed that score inside 20 overs. But their main title rivals - Finedon Dolben, Northampton Saints and Old Northamptonians - also won. Defending champions Finedon stay second, 17 points adrift, after overcoming Brixworth by four wickets. Saints claimed maximum points with a 99-run win at home to the Northamptonshire Academy, while ON's successfully chased down 275 to beat Wellingborough Town by four wickets. Rushden pulled themselves up into mid-table courtesy of their 47-run victory over Burton Latimer and the day's other match - between Wollaston and Rushton - ended in a draw. First division pacesetters Geddington, Isham and Horton House all won again and are now separated by a single point.
