Holders Northampton Saints safely cleared their first hurdle in this season's Northants League Twenty20. Chasing a hat-trick of titles, Saints overcame Overstone Park by 45 runs at Birchfield Road on Tuesday night. But local rivals Old Northamptonians - who lifted the trophy five times between 2001 and 2007 - went down by eight wickets to Stony Stratford. Finedon Dolben, runners-up in 2009, crushed Raunds by nine wickets after dismissing the opposition for just 71.
