Rushden & Diamonds have signed striker Ryan Charles after the 20-year-old was released by Luton Town.

Charles, who can also play on the wing, was with the Hatters from the age of nine and made his first-team debut against Southend in March 2008.

During his time at Luton he went out on loan to various clubs, including Kettering Town and Kidderminster.

"Joining a club like ourselves will suit him," Diamonds manager Justin Edinburgh said.

"It will help him prove a point and let his career take off.

"He didn't get too many opportunities at Luton this season but had a good number of appearances at a young age."

Charles will officially sign for the Blue Square Premier outfit on 1 July.
