Leicestershire have announced Phil Whitticase will take charge of first-team affairs at Grace Road.

Whitticase is already head coach and academy director, but steps up to first-team duties following the departure of Tim Boon.

Chief executive Mike Siddall said: "In view of the current financial situation the board has decided not to advertise for a senior coach.

"We have looked at our excellent existing resources to provide support."

High performance coach Lloyd Tennant will be in charge of the second XI, while Whitticase and Tennant will continue to run Leicestershire's Academy.

The arrangement has the full support of the cricket group, which includes chairman Paul Haywood and club captain Matthew Hoggard

Fellow high performance coach Russell Cobb will be responsible for the emerging players programme and the player pathway through to the academy.

"The club has three top-quality level four coaches who complement each other well," added Siddall.

"The arrangement has the full support of the cricket group, which includes chairman Paul Haywood and club captain Matthew Hoggard."

Boon left Leicestershire in September and is now head coach of the England Development Programme, focusing on England's Under-19 side.
