Leicester Riders have re-signed forward Phil Missere on a short-term contract. Missere, 27, who played for the club in the 2008/09 season, has agreed to stay with the Riders until Christmas. His arrival will fill the void left by centre Andrew Bennett, who has to have an operation on a knee problem and is expected to be out until the January. Head coach Rob Paternostro said: "To get Phil is a massive bonus and it won't take him long to get acclimated to us, our system or the league." Missere led the British Basketball League in rebounding, blocked shots and field goal percentage in 2008/09 and also chipped in with an average of 13.5 points per game. Paternostro added: "He is a highly intelligent basketball player. "Physically and athletically he is a real presence. People obviously see the blocks, the rebounds and that was all fantastic in his first year here, but what I took away most from working with him was he has a high basketball IQ. "That allowed us to do a lot of different things at both ends of the floor and to get someone like that for us is a certainly going to help."
