Stevens has been to Twenty20 finals day five times |
Kent all-rounder Darren Stevens has been rewarded for his impressive county season with a spot in the England squad for the Hong Kong Sixes next month. The 33-year-old is one of seven players who will defend the title England won last year. Stevens said: "I enjoyed a great Twenty20 Cup this year and I hope I will be able to continue my good form. "We have a strong squad and hopefully can replicate the form of last year and defend our title." Former Kent player Peter Trego, now at Somerset, is also included in the squad. England will be captained by Nottinghamshire's Chris Read, with Jamie Dalrymple (Glamorgan), Graham Wagg (Derbyshire), Graham Napier (Essex) and Rory Hamilton-Brown (Sussex) making up the squad. Matches are just five overs per side, with each player apart from the wicketkeeper bowling one over. The other nations involved at the Kowloon Cricket Club on 31 October and 1 November are Hong Kong, Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka. England have won the competition five times.
