Kent completed a stunning comeback by securing a 192-run defeat of Essex at Chelmsford after following on.

Darren Stevens hit an unbeaten 136 as Kent made 512-9 in their second innings, which they started 165 behind.

Robbie Joseph then took six wickets and Wayne Parnell three as Essex were bowled out for only 155 as their batting line-up crumbled.

Ryan ten Doeschate tried to address the slump with 36, but was eventually ninth out as the tail collapsed.

Essex coach Paul Grayson told BBC Radio Essex:

I'm very disappointed, when you dominate a match for the best part of three days, and lose it on the last day it shows you how cruel four-day cricket can be.

"We've only got ourselves to blame, we played really well for the first three days, made them follow-on which we felt was the right decision but they were fresh.

"Our batting wasn't up to standard today, they played really well, batted really well in the second innings and made it hard for us.

"We didn't have the answers when it came to batting this afternoon."
