Essex in charge as Kent follow on

COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION TWO, Chelmsford
Essex v Kent
29 April - 2 May (Play starts 1100 BST)

CLOSE OF PLAY, DAY TWO: Essex 370 Kent 205 and 54-1(Essex 7 pts, Kent 4pts)

Kent are facing an uphill battle to save their County Championship game at Essex after being forced to follow on on day two at Chelmsford.

The home side added only 40 to their overnight 330-7, with wicketkeeper James Foster dismissed just one short of a deserved century.

But Kent could only make 205 in reply, thanks mainly to overseas player Wayne Parnell who hit 69 to add to his 4-78.

Following on, they lost Joe Denly but closed on 54-1, still 111 behind.
