Ford set for South Africa return

Graham Ford
Ford pulled out of the running for the England coach job

Kent director of cricket Graham Ford has been confirmed as the new coach of South African franchise the Dolphins.

The 48-year-old will return to Durban at the end of the English season.

The South African was a highly successful coach with Natal during his early career and led them to a domestic double in the 1996/97 season.

"I am excited at the prospect of Graham taking over as he brings a wealth of experience," said Cassim Docrat, from Kwa-Zulu Natal Cricket Union.

Ford takes over from Yashin Hassan, who will take charge of the academy team.

Docrat added: "With the accumulated experience that Yashin has gained over the past eight years with the KZN Amateur team, the National Academy and the Nashua Dolphins, he plays an important role in bringing forward youngsters within our system."

Ford was seen as one of the favourites to take over from Peter Moores as England coach.

But he pulled out of the running after becoming frustrated by the delay in making an appointment.
