Gidman scored 204 runs in 11 FP t20 innings this season |
Gloucestershire captain Alex Gidman has slammed his side and called their exit from the FP t20 "embarrassing". A six-wicket home defeat to Surrey on Sunday saw the Gladiators finish bottom of the South Group. Gidman told BBC Radio Bristol: "We just don't seem to grasp the things myself and John (Bracewell) are asking players to do. "It's a complete embarrassment. Now we have to regroup, which is going to be hard, but we have no choice." Gloucestershire's performances have been better in the two other forms of cricket, winning three of their four matches in the 40-over format, while they sit second in the Division Two Championship table. | 606: DEBATE |
The Gladiators travel to Derbyshire on Tuesday for their fifth game in the CB 40, knowing a convincing win would take them top of Group B. "There's not a lot John or I can say, it has to come from individuals now to find their drive and ambition," Gidman added. "It's a harsh reality check and Tuesday's a massive game now. "We should have have been learning and improving, but we haven't."
