Gidman frustrated by Glos batting

Gloucestershire captain Alex Gidman was left frustrated by another poor batting display in Thursday night's Pro 40 defeat by Yorkshire at Headingley.

Yorkshire reached a target of 173 with eight wickets and eight overs in hand.

Gidman told BBC Gloucestershire: "We are saying the right things but not executing them.

"We were surprised by a lack of pace in the wicket which undid the top order, and we didn't execute a simple bowling plan. There is no hiding place."

The result means Gloucestershire will now finish bottom of Pro40 Division One in the final season of the competition if they lose their final match against Notts.

If we go to Glamorgan and get a result, we'll still be in the hunt

"In the Friends Provident Trophy people were getting thirties, forties and fifties," points out Gidman. "That's where we were getting our totals from.

"If you don't do that, and no-one gets a score you end up with totals under 200. I don't even know if we've scored 200 in the Pro40 at all."

Gloucestershire could still win promotion to Division One of the County Championship - and Gidman accepts that is what he is now concentrating on.

"If we go to Glamorgan and get a result, we'll still be in the hunt. It'll then be a case of seeing what's required from our last game against Kent."
