Narraway faces three months out

Gloucester number eight Luke Narraway has been ruled out for three months because of a back injury.

The 26-year-old England international is to have an operation next week to cure a disc problem.

Narraway told BBC Gloucestershire: "I have been suffering for about three years with a slight bulging disc.

"It's now got bigger, so the disc will be shaved back to its original size. Hopefully the discomfort disappears and I can come back stronger."

Narraway has been a regular in the Gloucester squad for the last three years, having made his debut in 2003. Versatile enough to play at flanker or number eight, his injury leaves Gareth Delve as Gloucester's only experienced number eight in the squad.

Narraway added: "I think the original problem was when I was touring with the England Sevens, because the scans showed it was what is called a trauma incident.

"The physio's have kept me going until now but it's got to a stage where it needs clearing up. When it's been bad, it's been bad, and I look forward to playing without thinking about my back going.
