Steffan Jones started his career in Minor Counties cricket with Wales |
Fast bowler Steffan Jones is returning to Derbyshire for a one-month loan spell from Somerset. The 35-year-old took 59 first-class wickets for the county in 2006, earning him the vote as Derbyshire's County Championship Player of the Year. But he then decided to rejoin Somerset when his contract expired. Head of cricket John Morris told BBC Radio Derby: "Bringing in Steffan gives us a timely boost and allows us to freshen up our bowling attack." The Welshman has played 25 first-class matches for Somerset taking 57 wickets at an average of 37.60. The highlight of Jones' previous spell at the County Ground was a match-winning spell of 6- 25 against Glamorgan.
