Jones is hoping it will be third time lucky at Derby |
Derbyshire have begun strengthening their squad for the 2006 season by signing Welsh seamer Steffan Jones. The 31-year-old has spent the last two season with Northants, having begun his first-class career at Somerset.
"He is an experienced bowler who will help our young seam attack," Director of Cricket Dave Houghton told the club's website.
"He likes to bowl a lot of overs and will provide a bit of penetration that we have been missing this season."
Jones has taken 207 first-class wickets at an average of 39.5.
Northants confirmed his release earlier this week and Derbyshire were quick to agree a one-year deal with him.
"The prospect of joining Derbyshire is hugely exciting as the club look to build a squad capable of competing with the best," Jones commented.
