Stephen Peters scored a two-hour unbeaten 64 to secure a draw for Northants on the final day against Derbyshire at Wantage Road. The visitors declared 69 runs ahead on 502-9, shortly after lunch. Wavell Hinds added 15 to his overnight score, before falling for 148 to Johan van der Wath who finished with 3-97. Northants never looked in any trouble in reply, as Peters added an unbeaten half-century to his mammoth 175 in the first innings. Fellow opener Ben Howgego had plenty to prove in only his fourth Championship game of the season. The 21-year-old passed his previous best of 24 shortly after tea, before falling lbw to Greg Smith's quicker ball for 36.
