Back-to-back wins for Cambridgeshire have left captain Simon Kellett viewing them as an outside shot for the Minor Counties Eastern Division title.

Kellett's men saw off Bedfordshire over three days with a 51-run win to record their second victory of the campaign.

The 42-year-old told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "We've got some good players and it's coming together.

"We have a slight chance of winning the championship with one game to go, that's all we can ask."

Cambridgeshire would need a convincing victory against Northumberland at Jesmond on 15 August and hope Lincolnshire and Suffolk slip up in their final matches.

"As long as winning it is still mathematically possible, we'll pick the strongest team we can get and go to Jesmond to win," Kellett added.

"If we sneak up and get a win we might even do it."

The victory over Bedfordshire was sealed thanks to strong knocks from Alan Burton in the first innings (81) and Matthew Pateman in the second (68).

But seamer James Williams stole the show with figures of 5-88, stemming any chance of the visitors recording a competitive second innings total.

Cambridgeshire: 300 (Burton 81, McMahon 66, Sneath 6-69, Griggs 2-77) and 283 dec. (Pateman 68, Cafferkey 49, Griggs 4-46, Sneath 3-92).

Bedfordshire: 248 (Clayson 67, Reynoldson 37, Akhtar 3-64, Williams 3-69) and 284 (Clayosn 156no, Williams 5-88).

Cambridgeshire beat Bedfordshire by 51 runs.
