Cambridgeshire cricket captain Simon Kellett is confident he can help turn the side into one of the best Minor Counties teams in the country.
Cambs finished their season with a seven-wicket defeat at Norfolk but Kellett feels they are improving.
He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "If we can find a pro bowler to go with what we've got I'm sure we'll be competing to a higher level than this.
"I've really enjoyed playing with these lads. We're not far away now."
The March-based club ended the campaign with five draws and one defeat out of their six Eastern Division matches.
Former Yorkshire opener Kellett will be working with the squad's youngsters ahead of next year, including impressive all-rounder James Williams.
He said: "He needs to bowl his areas a little bit better, there's too many four balls at the moment.
"But when he gets it right he can go through teams with his pace. He's also a quality batter for the team as well."
Kellett, 42, has committed himself to another season at The Avenue Spots Club as has Ajaz Akhtar who became the club's second highest wicket-taker in the Norfolk defeat.
