Posh's Mclean at ease with injury

Peterborough United striker Aaron Mclean believes he is on the way to recovering from his shin injury.

He picked up the problem in last week's 4-1 Carling Cup win over Rotherham.

Mclean told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "When I first did the injury I thought I'd broken something as I could hear grinding whenever I moved my foot.

"I think it will take a couple of weeks to completely heal, but it's hard to gauge at the moment as I've picked up another knock."

Mclean suffered the injury in a collision with Rotherham defender Danny Harrison and left the field on a stretcher.

Rather than breaking his leg, he aggravated a previous problem and was able to play against Bournemouth on Saturday.

"A bit of bone has got wedged between the joint which is causing me a bit of discomfort as it stands, but it's a lot better than it could have been," he said.

Mclean has scored twice in three matches for the Posh this season, but could do nothing as Bournemouth picked up a 5-1 win.

"We've had a chat, watched the game and gone through the things we feel we did wrong, but we need to learn from it," he said.

"If you can learn quickly then it will stand you in good stead for the future."

Posh host potential promotion rivals Huddersfield at London Road on Saturday with Gabby Zakuani (groin), Lee Frecklington (knee) and Chris Whelpdale (ankle) still on the sidelines.

Nathanial Mendez-Laing and Seth Nana Ofori-Twumasi are both under threat for their places after being taken off at half-time in the Bournemouth defeat.

Aaron Davies, Lee Tomlin and Tommy Rowe are all pushing for their first starts of the season.
