Little played nine games for Posh while on loan from Wolves last season

Peterborough United full-back Mark Little has admitted he has been pleasantly surprised by boss Gary Johnson's free-scoring approach.

Posh have netted seven times in their first two games, grabbing four in the Carling Cup victory over Rotherham United on Tuesday.

He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "We were thinking we'd hold back after the last goal but the gaffer wanted more.

"If that's the way we're going to play then that's how we'll win the league."

The right-back impressed enough during a loan spell from Wolves last season to earn a contract at London Road this summer.

He feels he has walked into a team that matches the way he wants to play football.

He added: "The gaffer's gone for an attacking team this year and it tells.

"I love defending, which you will get in any game but it's a lot easier if we do the defending in their half of the pitch."

Meanwhile, striker Aaron McLean is set to have an MRI scan on his leg after a crunching challenge from Millers midfielder Danny Harrison.

An initial X-ray shed little light on the 27-year-old's condition, but Little was not impressed with the tackle.

"For me it wasn't the safest of challenges," he said.

"If that wasn't a challenge to get a yellow card then I don't understand, I just want a bit of consistency really from the referees.

"They're blowing up for things when we're not touching each other and then when you've got a challenge that almost breaks a lads legs it's play on."

The club are hopeful that McLean's injury will result in a short-term lay-off.
