Cambridge United have signed former Grays and Leyton Orient striker Wayne Gray on a month-to-month basis.

The 29-year-old, who has been on trial with the U's since the start of pre-season, will have the deal reviewed in six months time.

Boss Martin Ling told the club website: "He had a disappointing season last year with injuries.

"The importance for me is proving he's still got the ability he had, which in pre-season I feel he has."

Gray played under Ling at Leyton Orient, but he has been dogged by injuries since leaving Brisbane Road in May 2009.

The forward, who has scored once during his trial spell at the Abbey, was released by Grays Athletic at the end of last season.
