Patston also plays National League rugby for Bedford
Norfolk captain Carl Rogers says Ben Patston's second-innings century against Staffordshire was key to them earning a draw at Manor Park.
Norfolk were set a post-lunch victory target of 318 on the final day at Manor Park, but they fell just one run short.
Rogers told BBC Radio Norfolk that Patston's knock of 107 was crucial.
"Ben's innings was right out front for us, tremendous. You don't see many better in minor counties cricket, his innings was superb," he said.
He added: "Especially with the pressure of chasing runs as well, it all adds a little bit of something to your innings."
With the position we got ourselves in with 20 overs to go we felt we should have perhaps won it

The result gives Norfolk another 15 Minor Counties Championship points to add to the 21 they earned in a nine-wicket win at Lincolnshire in their first match.
And Rogers admits that on reflection it was a good result give the size of their task on the final day.
"When we started the chase, to say that we were going to be level at the end, I think we'd have settled for that to be honest.
"But with the position we got ourselves in with 20 overs to go we felt we should have perhaps won it.
"We've done alright in the first two games, the conditions helped us at Lincolnshire and we made the most of that, and today it could have gone our way again couldn't it?"
