Croft rues Dragons demise

Foxes' Darren Maddy
Maddy set the tone for Leicestershire - he's really in the zone at the moment
Glamorgan skipper Robert Croft

Captain Robert Croft said Glamorgan had underperformed in their 21-run Twenty20 Cup semi-final loss to Leicestershire.

"I won't criticise my team publicly - those sorts of things will be left for inside the dressing-room," Croft said after his side were dismissed for 144.

"But we didn't play to the standard we've been used to.

"We hit a good rhythm when we were playing games thick and fast but we had a gap playing (other) county cricket and it's a different intensity."

Croft paid tribute to Foxes opening batsman Darren Maddy, who crashed 72 from 40 balls to extend his total for this year's competition to 334.

"He set the tone for Leicestershire - he's really in the zone at the moment," Croft continued.

"When you're batting with that confidence you don't get it for too long so you have to make hay and that's exactly what he's doing."

Croft vowed the loss would not affect the remainder of the season, with the Dragons in line for the one-day league title and possible promotion in the Championship.

"This team will come back," he said.

"We're third in the Championship and top of the Totesport League with a game in hand - the pint is half full, not half empty.

"We've worked too hard since January and we owe it to ourselves and our supporters to stay focused."
