West Indies reached 303-8 at stumps on day four of the third and final Test against Sri Lanka in Kandy, with a draw now seemingly inevitable.

Only 22.3 overs were possible on another rain-affected day as the Windies added 59 runs to their first innings total.

Spinner Rangana Herath claimed all three wickets in the space of five overs, including Brendan Nash for 67.

The first two Tests, also disrupted by rain, were both drawn.

West Indies began the day on their Thursday total of 244-5 after Friday's play was washed out.

606: DEBATE

Sri Lanka started with spinners operating from both ends and the tactic paid dividends as Herath had Nash caught behind attempting to sweep.

The left-armer struck again in his next over when he trapped Carlton Baugh leg-before-wicket for two.

West Indies captain Darren Sammy followed in similar fashion for eight, his third successive failure in the series after making two in the first Test in Colombo and nought in the second in Galle.

Sulieman Benn smashed two sixes to reach 29 not out, with Kemar Roach unbeaten on 12.
