Guernsey Cricket Board have appointed Pete Vidamour as senior island cricket squad manager. He takes over the role vacated by Dave Hearse and will work with the island's national coach Andy Cornford. Vidamour, who has previously held the position, has been appointed for an initial three-year period. He will be in charge of the squad that plays in the Twenty20 ICC European Division One and the ICC World Cricket League Division Six in Malaysia. Vidamour said: "I'm delighted to become involved with the island set up for a second time. 2011 promises to be an exciting and challenging year and I'm looking forward to working with Andy Cornford and the guys to develop the excellent work done by Dave and the team over the past few years." Guernsey Cricket Board chief executive Mark Latter said: "We were fortunate to have a number of highly able people applying for this role which, given the success and dedication given to it by Dave Hearse previously, was always going to be a tough challenge to take on. "In Pete we have an individual who will command the respect of both the players and the board and, along with Andy, ensure we give ourselves the best opportunity to achieve the goals we have set ourselves in the following years." Cornford added: "I'm really looking forward to working with Pete. It's clear that not only does he bring a wealth of playing experience and knowledge of the game; he is driven and passionate about helping set the right environment for the Guernsey team to progress. "He also brings his business experience and skills to the role of manager, which are vital to the growing demands now placed on the players. "With T20 and World Cricket League in one year it's going to be a busy but very exciting year."
