Northants League title race set to go down to the wire

Cricket whites

Another defeat for leaders Finedon means the Northants League title race is set to go right down to the wire.

The defending champions lost to Old Northamptonians by four wickets and saw their lead over nearest rivals Peterborough cut to just three points.

Peterborough claimed a winning draw away to Rushton at Station Road.

Third-placed Northampton Saints crushed Brixworth by eight wickets and could keep alive their own title hopes with a win at Peterborough next weekend.

At the other end of the table, bottom side Wellingborough look doomed following their seven-wicket defeat at the hands of Rushden.

They are 32 points adrift of Burton Latimer with two rounds of matches left.

Meanwhile, Horton House have boosted their promotion hopes in Division One with a maximum-point victory over Irthlingborough.
