Leaders Finedon Dolben and second-placed Peterborough both won again on Saturday to set up a potentially decisive Northants League encounter. Finedon beat Brixworth by seven wickets while Peterborough claimed a narrow 19-run victory at Stony Stratford. Chris Goode's side now lead by 30 points and will tackle their nearest rivals at Bretton Gate next weekend. Northampton Saints, in third spot, lost vital ground with a draw against the Northamptonshire Academy. Bottom-of-the-table Wellingborough caused one of the biggest upsets of the season to date, beating Old Northamptonians by four wickets to register their first win. They are now only six points behind Burton Latimer in the battle to avoid relegation into Division One. Meanwhile, the Northants League's Twenty20 champions, Oundle Town, have the East Midlands regional title in the national Cockspur Club T20 competition. Oundle saw off Leicester Ivanhoe in the semi-finals at Spondon before overcoming Cuckney from Nottinghamshire. They will now feature in the national quarter-finals on 5 September.
