CLYDESDALE BANK 40 GROUP B, Northampton: Gloucestershire 268-4 (40 ovs) bt Northants 186-9 (40 ovs) by 82 runs Match scorecard
Franklin's century was his second in the CB 40 this summer |
James Franklin and Chris Taylor both scored centuries as Gloucestershire finished their CB 40 campaign with victory over Northants at Northampton. Franklin ended unbeaten on 108, while Taylor was out off the last ball of the innings for 105 as Gloucestershire racked up 268-4. The pair put on 207 for the fourth wicket, the biggest ever one-day stand for Gloucestershire against Northants. The home side were never in the hunt as they made 186-9 to lose by 82 runs. Stephen Peters hit 56 and Mal Loye 43 for Northants but it never looked like being enough as teenager David Payne took 4-34. The partnership between Franklin and Taylor also equalled Gloucestershire's one-day fourth wicket record set by Jack Russell and Tony Wright against British Universities in 1998. Essex's victory over Group B winners Yorkshire meant Gloucestershire missed out on a semi-final spot and finished third in the table, with Northants fifth.
