Player-coach Carl Crowe remains optimistic about Berkshire's title chances despite his team's 76-run defeat to Cheshire.

Berkshire slipped to second in the Minor Counties Western Division, and now trail Dorset by four points.

Crowe told BBC Berkshire: "We'll see this not as a setback but as an opportunity next time to get it right.

"We'll be going to Shropshire and Cornwall not only hoping, but expecting, to win those games."

Crowe's side were set a target of 331 runs to win and believes the decision to try to win the game rather than settle for a draw was the right one.

"The game could have been a draw," he said.

"We saw an opportunity to win the game, we took a bit of initiative, tried to get the game going forward but unfortunately we didn't get our target.

"It would have been three wins out of four games which would have been fantastic," he reflected.
