Berkshire's Minor Counties Championship title hopes were dealt a blow with a 76-run defeat to Cheshire. Set 331 to win, Berkshire looked well placed at 210 for 4 after an 88-run partnership between Carl Crowe and Steve Naylor. Former Berkshire player Richard Logan took the wicket of Crowe before Berkshire collapsed to 254 all out. It was Berkshire's first Championship defeat of the season but their third in succession against Cheshire. The match yielded more than 1,300 runs in total, with five centurions. Batting first, Cheshire made 354 for 6 declared and Berkshire responded with 390 for 6 declared, with Jono McLean making 182 and captain Bjorn Mordt 66. Cheshire then reached 366 for 5 declared in their second innings, with centuries from John Kettle and Ben Spendlove, before Berkshire were bowled out for 254.
