Isle of Man cricket coach Gareth Dawson says the Under-17 team are "quietly confident" ahead of the forthcoming ICC European Division Two Championships. The hosts will look to go one better following last summer's second place finishers in the Under-15, U-19 and Senior competitions. Dawson told BBC Isle of Man: "We will take it one game at a time but we are quietly confident in our ability." The island will face Germany in their opening fixture on Saturday. The Isle of Man will be joined by Italy, Germany, Spain, Hellas, Austria, France, Switzerland, Gibraltar and Belgium in the first ever European cricket tournament to be held on Manx soil. The Manx team will be captained by Daniel Hawke who has represented Lancashire Colt's this season. Hawke along with Shaun Kelly, Seb Aycock and Adam Killey have all represented the island at the top level. The nucleus of the squad have European experience after finishing runner-up in the Under-15 Division Two Championships held in Bologna last August.
