All-rounder Farveez Maharoof bagged a hat-trick as Sri Lanka beat India by seven wickets in the final round-robin match of the Asia Cup.

Maharoof removed Ravindra Jadeja lbw, before bowling Praveen Kumar and having Zaheer Khan caught in successive balls.

India collapsed from 189-4 to 209 all out in 42.3 overs, losing their last six wickets for just 20 runs.

Sri Lanka reached the target with ease, Kumar Sangakkara (73) top-scoring, and face India again in Thursday's final.

Maharoof, unsurprisingly, was named man-of-the-match, returning figures of 5-42 from his 10 overs.

The right-arm fast-medium bowler claimed his hat-trick in the 39th over, signalling the start of India's dramatic decline.

He becomes the 23rd player to achieve the feat in one-day internationals and the third Sri Lankan, after Chaminda Vaas and Lasith Malinga.

Earlier, Rohit Sharma hit 69 off 73 balls for India, while Dinesh Karthik weighed in with 41 and skipper Mahendra Dhoni made 40 before being run out.

In reply, Sri Lanka lost openers Upul Tharanga (38) and Tillakaratne Dilshan (24) as they reached 80-2, but a 104-run partnership between captain Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene saw them ease over the finishing line with more than 12 overs to spare.

India and Sri Lanka had already qualified for the final of the four-team tournament.
