Lincolnshire fell to a 115-run defeat by Cumberland in their Minor Counties Championship match at Cleethorpes. Set a target of 453 after the visitors declared on 475-6 on the final day, Dan Birch made a century before lunch as Lincolnshire made a positive start. But Birch was eventually out for 116 as the hosts slipped to 199-8. A record ninth-wicket partnership of 130 between Aaron Onyon (77) and Alex Osmond (59) raised hopes of a draw but the final wicket fell before tea. Captain Paul Cook told BBC Lincolnshire: "The tail-enders did well but our top-order batsmen on the whole failed to deliver." Lincolnshire had a modest first-innings lead of 23 after making 240 in reply to Cumberland's 217, but captain Gary Pratt (141) and Jonathan Miles (107) put on a county record 220 for the third wicket as Cumberland posted their highest ever score.
