Paul have overtaken Callington at the top of the Cornwall Premier League after beating St Austell by 40 runs. Batting first Paul hit 228-9 in their 55 overs at Wheal Eliza on Saturday, before bowling St Austell out for 188 in 52.4 overs. The win sees Paul go three points clear of Callington, who failed to win at home against Grampound Road. Callington scored 192 in 51.2 overs but failed to bowl Grampound Road out, as they finished on 149-8. Reigning champions St Just are now just six points behind the leaders in third place after recording their fourth win of the season, beating Newquay at home by 57 runs. The weekend's other fixtures saw Truro comfortably beat Penzance by 76 runs, while Falmouth drew with Werrington.
