Shrewsbury have dropped to second in the Birmingham League Premier Division after losing at Kenilworth on Saturday. Will Parton (41) helped them make 159 before the home side claimed a six-wicket victory, helped by 79 from Warwickshire's James Ord. Wellington moved up to third, a place behind their Shropshire rivals, after thrashing Smethwick by eight wickets. The home side struggled to 116 all out before Gerry Strydom (63 no) and Adam Byram (47) saw Wellington home. Kidderminster now lead Shrewsbury by six points. Shifnal moved into second spot in the First Division, bowling out Halesowen for 132 (Adam Shimmons 6-39) before an unbeaten 75 from opener Iain Mills set the foundations for a nine-wicket win. Whitchurch have ignited hopes of a second successive promotion after going top of the Second Division with an impressive performance at Harborne. Having won the toss, Maisam Hasnain (88) and Simon Bowen (87) shared an opening stand of 141 before Bowen and Shropshire's Richard Oliver (61) added 108 for the second wicket. A late flurry of boundaries from Amjaad Alikhan (50 not out) took Whitchurch to an imposing 339-3 off 55 overs. In reply, Harborne could only reach 208-7. Bridgnorth won the all-Shropshire derby with St Georges, who reached 212-8, as Jono Whitney reproduced his recent Shropshire county form with 4-58. He then hit 67 with the bat, supported by Dave Exall (49 no) and Ryan Lockley (42) in a five-wicket win. Oswestry made it two wins on the bounce in division three as they beat Eastnor. They hit 234 (Matt Whitthread 53, Nick Williams 52 and Dean Suter 40) before restricting the visitors to 173. In the Shropshire Premier Cricket League Division One, Madeley (229-2) claimed an eight-wicket win against title rivals Wem (228-6), to open up a 16-point gap at the top of the table.
