Seamer Dan Bowen set a Shropshire one-day record to lead his side into the last eight of the Minor Counties Cricket Association Trophy on Sunday. He took 6-25 as Staffordshire were beaten by five wickets at Audley. "What a magnificent performance in his first year with us," county secretary Peter Dawson told BBC Radio Shropshire. "He's the find of the season." Staffs made 190-9 before Rob Foster (83) and Steve Stubbings (52) saw Shropshire home with eight overs left. The performance of right-armer Bowen, 22, who plays his club cricket for Whitchurch, was even more impressive given the blazing heat. "The whole side is playing with pride, passion and commitment, and the formula of two pros and the rest all Shropshire lads is working well at the moment," Dawson added," The convincing nature of Shropshire's victory meant they topped the qualifying group, guaranteeing a home tie in Shrewsbury in the quarter-finals on 13 June. The final of the Trophy will be played at Durham's Riverside ground.
