Jersey are in danger of being relegated from the ICC Division Five after losing against Bahrain on Wednesday. The 27-run defeat means Jersey must now win against Singapore on Friday in their final match of the round-robin tournament in Nepal. Bahrain batted first at the Army Ground, scoring 264-7 in their 50 overs with Qamar Saeed hitting 50 not out. Jersey were all out for 237 in reply from 46.5 overs, despite a valiant 80 by captain Ryan Driver. Saeed was also the top performer for Bahrain with the ball, taking 6-33. Jersey have now lost three of their four games in the Division Five tournament, and are fourth in the table out of six. In order to retain their ICC Division Five status, Jersey must beat Singapore at the Engineering Ground on Friday and hope that Bahrain slip up against bottom-of-the-table Fiji, who have yet to win a match. If Jersey lose they must also hope that Bahrain are beaten. And if both Bahrain and Jersey win the two sides would end the tournament level on points and the second relegation place would be decided on net run rate. Jersey are currently only above Bahrain by virtue of their superior net run rate.
