Jersey have been beaten by Nepal in the opening game of the ICC World Cricket League Division Five in Nepal. Jersey batted first, but could not complete their 50 overs, falling to 174 all out after 44.5 overs. In reply Nepal passed the target with 12 overs remaining thanks to a stylish 69 runs off 66 balls from their captain Paras Khadka. Jersey's top scorer was Dean Morrison who hit 62 off 112 balls, whilst Samuel De La Haye scored 38. Jersey captain Ryan Driver, who took 2-24, said: "I'm obviously disappointed today and would have liked to have made it to the full 50 overs. "All credit to Nepal and especially their captain for a good all-round performance." In the opening day's other games, Singapore beat Bahrain by 126 runs, whilst the USA beat Fiji by 285 runs.
