Shropshire cricket captain James Ralph has pledged his commitment to the job, despite missing the Minor Counties title on the last day of the season. Shropshire's five-wicket defeat by Cheshire meant their opponents took top spot in the Western Division instead. "I still have a lot to offer, and if I'm asked of course I'll take it on again," he told BBC Radio Shropshire. "We have a good squad of players who - when they're all available - can beat anyone at this level." Ralph added: "It's up to the committee of course, and after my three seasons in the job they might feel they want a fresh approach. "But I have a bunch of good young players who all get on well together on and off the field. "The real problem has been availability. I know people have work or university or other commitments, but if we could get over that difficulty then there's no reason why we couldn't be champions next year."
