Neal hoping for Shrews comeback

Lewis Neal was a summer signing from Carlisle United

Shrewsbury Town winger Lewis Neal came through half a reserve game against Derby in his battle for full fitness

"He needed a competitive game," boss Paul Simpson told BBC Radio Shropshire. "We gave him 45 minutes Neal, and only took him off as a precaution.

"We'll take a look at him before seeing whether he's quite ready to go back into the first-team squad."

Neal was signed from Carlisle in the summer, but injured his ankle in Town's final pre-season friendly at Tranmere.

Shrewsbury's next game is at Accrington on Saturday (29 Aug), and Simpson has hinted that he might make the bench.
