Nelson hit three sixes and 11 fours in his match-winning knock |
Mark Nelson powered Northampton Saints back to the top of the Northamptonshire League with a crucial win over Brixworth on a rain-affected Saturday. The Northants all-rounder hit an unbeaten 79 as Saints beat the top division strugglers by nine wickets. Saints are now four points clear of Finedon Dolben who were frustrated by a heavy downpour after dismissing Rushden Town for just 100. Desborough's 'no result' against Burton Latimer lifted them off the bottom. Third-placed Old Northamptonians were also rained off after they had posted 151 all out against Stony Stratford, while the Northamptonshire Academy and Wollaston battled out a draw in a match that escaped the worst of the weather.
