Hall led Northants into next month's T20 finals day

South African all-rounder Andrew Hall praised his team-mates after Northants reached the Twenty20 Cup semi-finals for the first time.

Hall celebrated his 34th birthday a day early with an unbeaten 39 and 3-25, as the Steelbacks beat Hampshire Hawks by 13 runs on Thursday.

Northants rallied from 40-4 to 134-6 and then dismissed the Hawks for 121.

"We had runs on the board and I fancied our chances of defending that score," Hall told BBC Radio Northampton.

"That's the mentality we went out with, and you could see it in evidence throughout the game.

"The fielders worked really hard both inside the ring and around the boundary, and we held some great catches.

"Hopefully we can up that tempo even more when we get to finals day," he added.

Northants will face Sussex at Edgbaston on Saturday August 15, while Somerset face Kent in the other semi-final.
