Guernsey were on 149 runs when rain ended their play-off |
Guernsey Under-17s finished joint third with Holland in the European First Division in Northern Ireland as their play-off was abandoned due to rain. It was the first tournament since the island were promoted to the first division of European cricket. Guernsey lost to Scotland, beat Denmark and put on 149 runs in 29 overs before the game was abandoned on Thursday. Coach Jeremy Frith said: "It is a bit of a case of job done, we've come here and shown we can compete." Hosts Ireland were the winners of the six-nation event, with Scotland second, Denmark fifth and Guernsey's island neighbours Jersey taking the wooden spoon.
