Jersey Premier League leaders Romerils lost their unbeaten record to third-placed Old Victorians, going down by four runs in a final over thriller.

OV's batted first and scored 236-6, with Jonny Gough getting 86, Peter Gough 71 and captain Chris Jones 31.

The leaders regularly lost wickets in reply, but were 232-9 with two balls remaining only to lose star man Ryan Driver for 67.

John Prince also hit 43, while Peter Gough took 4-16 for OV's.

It was a day for batsmen around the league as Sporting Club Francais took 36 points to close the gap to Romerils by 20 points with a 108-run win over bottom side Caesareans.

Steve Carlyon hit 110 and Paul Ramage 108 for the second-placed side as Sporting Club hit 277-4 batting first.

Caesareans could only muster 169-6 in reply.

Finally, there were 558 runs scored at Grainville as St Ouen leapfrogged above fourth-placed Springfield with a 74-run win.

St Ouen hit a massive 316-6 in their innings, with Hugo Bishop top scoring with 95.

Mark Tribe also hit 75 and Dean Morrison 63 for the parish side, while Springfield's Pat Kelly took 3-55.

In reply Springfield reached 242-9 thanks mainly to Kelly completing a fine all-round display by hitting 107, the league's third century of the day.

Romerils now lead the Jersey Premier League table with 247 points, while Sporting Club Francais stay second on 218.

Old Victorians are just a further eight points behind in third place.

And with Romerils set to play Sporting Club next Saturday at Grainville the title could be all but decided that day.

If Romerils win and claim maximum points and Old Victorians lose to St Ouen or beat them with a low score, then the title would all but be in Romerils' hands.

But a win for Sporting Club and OV's would leave all three sides level around the 255 point mark with two games to go.
