Ashwell Prince heaped praise on team-mate Justin Kemp after the pair guided South Africa to a 4-0 lead in the one-day series againt West Indies. Prince notched up a career-best 89 as he and Kemp (65) shared a century stand during the six-wicket win in Trinidad.
"It wasn't easy at the start of my innings, I took a while to adjust to the pace," said Prince.
"Kemp showed his attacking intent when he came in, and that spread the field and made it easier to take singles."
Shaun Pollock, captaining South Africa in the enforced absence of Graeme Smith, was also quick to give credit to the duo.
"We lost soft wickets up front, but Ashwell and Justin absorbed the pressure," Pollock said.
"They had a job to do, and they did it. And it's good to be captain when you win."
Prince was dropped on 20 and 22, and came close to being run out in the 30s, and Justin Kemp was dropped on 22, 42 and 48.
"I must agree that catches win matches, and dropping them lose matches," home skipper Shivnarine Chanderpaul admitted. "I think the fielding really let us down, and that followed the batting which also was a let down for us.
"This was a good pitch on which to bat. Once you got yourself in, you could get runs on it.
"We did not do it, and a total of 231 was not going to be enough, but we were still hoping that we could fight and win it,"
