Bazany must lift his team for the bronze medal match |
England failed to reach the women's basketball final when they lost a close semi-final 74-67 to New Zealand. Rhondda Rebels player Andrea Congreaves was top-scorer with 16 points while team-mate Rosalee Mason got 15.
"We played hard and I am proud of the team. We are very disappointed," said coach Branislav Bazany.
The result means England will play Nigeria for the bronze medal on Thursday while the Tall Ferns will face favourites Australia in the final.
England were nine points behind at half-time but despite a brave fightback were unable to peg back the Kiwis.
"It was a tough loss. We played the hardest, but now our focus is on playing Nigeria," said Felixstowe's Sally Kaznica.
