England World Cup winner Dan Luger and emerging Sale flanker Magnus Lund have been named in the England Sevens squad for the Commonwealth Games. The pair are part of a 15-man squad that leaves for Melbourne on 5 March, but which will be reduced to 12 before the competition begins.
Simon Amor is skipper while experienced Sevens players Ben Gollings and Henry Paul also make the trip to Melbourne.
The squad contains exciting youngsters Tom Varndell and Mathew Tait.
"I am really pleased with the squad we are taking," said Sevens coach Mike Friday.
"The Commonwealth Games will be one of the biggest occasions in these players lives and it was incredibly hard to just choose 15 players."
Only Amor, Paul and Gollings have played in the Commonwealth Games before and Friday says they will be vital in leading the younger players.

" I will be looking to them to lend their experience to the youngsters," Friday added.
"I truly believe that this squad includes some of the future stars of England rugby and this experience will be a vital part of their player development."
Lund has impressed for his club this season and was named in England's training squad ahead of the Six Nations.
Luger, who toured with the Lions in 2001, was part of the England squad that won the World Cup in Sydney in 2003 but faded from the international spotlight afterwards.
He moved to French side Perpignan but secured an early release from the club last summer.
Although he is not playing for a club, Luger has featured for the England in the IRB World Sevens and is now ready to play in Australia for the first time since the World Cup.
"I am really looking forward to returning to Australia as part of an England squad," he said.
"Playing sevens for England has been a real focus for me all season, and the Commonwealth Games have been in the back of my mind since the summer.
"I really enjoy playing sevens and pulling on the England shirt again for the first time since the World Cup felt fantastic."
