Robin Sowden-Taylor replaces Lee Beech in the Wales squad |
Cardiff Blues and Wales back row Robin Sowden-Taylor has been added to Wales' 12-man Commonwealth Games Sevens squad. The 23-year-old's call-up comes after Lee Beech was forced to withdraw because the Osprey has been unable to overcome a stress fracture to his foot.
Sowden-Taylor will join regional colleagues Rhys Williams and Wayne Evans in the Wales squad for Melbourne.
Williams, capped 44 times at full-back or wing, has not played for Wales this season and sporadically for the Blues.
Ospreys flanker Richie Pugh captains a squad showing a mixture of youth and experience, with the nous of Dai Rees at the helm as coach.
Wales have been drawn in Group A with holders New Zealand, Kenya and Namibia in a 16-team competition.
The tournament will be held in Melbourne's Telstra Dome on 15 and 16 March.
Wales reappeared on the world sevens stage for the first time in three years when the squad helped to kick-off the IRB World Series in Dubai in November 2005.
