Being likened to Amir Khan would be a heavy burden to bear for some boxers. Not this one.

The dazzling 21-year-old from Birmingham has the talent to go one better than his close pal and former sparring partner Khan, and be crowned Olympic champ.

The lightweight boxer had quite a year in 2005, being named England's most improved boxer and picking up the English ABA, 4-Nations and ABA Box-Off titles.

England boxing chief Terry Edwards calls Gavin an "extraordinary talent". After becoming Commonwealth champion in Melbourne it looks like more glory beckons.
